Modern Georgian Home
Bottesford, Leicestershire
In this project, we were asked to transform two unused rooms in our client’s family home in Bottesford, Leicestershire.
The house already had great bones - high ceilings, traditional mouldings and original shutters but following the addition of a large modern extension these rooms in the original part of the property had fallen into disuse and needed a refresh and an injection of personality.
We project managed the whole design from concept to completion - you can read all about the process below.
The Before
The Design Process
When we first visited, it was clear that a lot of time and attention had been spent on the new areas of the home, leaving some of the original spaces feeling unloved and underused. The owner was keen to embrace the beautiful traditional features and breathe new life into these rooms, they requested we use high-spec finishes and premium products to match the quality of the materials used in the new extension.
After the initial site visit and having conducted a full measure of the spaces, we started to develop concepts and layouts for the two rooms. We always work collaboratively with our clients and this project was no exception, refining and re-defining layouts and concepts until we arrived at the best solutions. This included colour schemes, materials & finishes and furniture & lighting selections - all chosen to create a thread of connection between the new parts of the house and the old. Once the design concepts were approved we produced visuals to bring the schemes to life for our client.
At this stage we started to bring in our team of highly skilled tradespeople to begin work on making the concepts a reality. We project managed the works from start to finish, making regular site visits to ensure the work stayed on track and was being completed as planned. Whilst the work was being completed we continued to source all furniture, fixtures and fittings, managing & co-ordinating deliveries to make sure items arrived on time and as expected.
Once the trades had finished their work and we were happy with everything, we prepared for the final installation. This included co-ordinating deliveries of all the final pieces, employing our handy man to hang mirrors and artwork, cleaning and tidying and dressing the spaces with all the finishing touches - ready to present to the clients in the much anticipated “final reveal” moment.
